Terms

The deal when you order a card, in plain English.

Last updated 3 October 2026

The short version

  • You pay when you order. We make your card and email you its link.
  • One round of changes is included, and we always fix our own mistakes free.
  • Cancel any time before we send the link for a full refund.
  • Your card stays online for at least 12 months.
  • If something's wrong with it, we fix it or refund you.

Who we are

Tappy Birthday is a trading name of Bradley Liston-Head, a sole trader based at 38 Crofters Lane, Sutton Coldfield B75 5UJ. Email hello@tappybirthday.co.uk. We aim to reply within 2 working days.

What you're buying

A personalised digital birthday card: a web page we make for you, showing your people as cartoons in a scene you describe, with animation and music. We send it as a private link.

  • It works in an up-to-date web browser on phones, tablets and computers. There's no app to install.
  • Sound starts when the birthday person taps the card. Phones block sound until someone taps, so that's how it's built.
  • It needs an internet connection to open.

Price and payment

  • The price is the total you pay. We show it on the order page and at checkout before you pay. There's no VAT or delivery charge on top, and nothing else to add.
  • A card is £7.99. That includes up to 7 people or pets. There are no extras.
  • You pay in full when you order, by card, through Stripe. We never see your card number.
  • Our contract starts when your payment goes through. We'll confirm your order by email, including what you agreed about cancelling.

How ordering works

  1. Fill in the brief on the order page. Until you pay, you can check and change any answer, and the order summary shows your total as you go.
  2. Tick the two boxes and press the pay button. That takes you to Stripe's secure checkout, where you pay by card.
  3. Stripe brings you back to us to upload your photos. We then email you a confirmation of your order.

Spotted a mistake after paying? Email us before we send your card's link and we'll put it right. We keep a copy of your order, and we'll send it to you if you ask. Orders are in English. You can save or print these terms from your browser.

Making your card

  • After you pay, upload a clear photo of each person on the page Stripe brings you back to, or email them to us with your order reference. A photo of the place helps too.
  • We email you your card's link within 48 hours of getting your photos.
  • We might ask you a question if something isn't clear. If we can't make what you've asked for (for example, it needs someone else's character or logo), we'll tell you and refund you in full.
  • If we haven't had your photos 30 days after you paid, we'll email you. If we still don't hear back 14 days after that, we'll cancel the order and refund you in full.

Changes

When we send your card's link, check it before you send it on. One round of changes is included: send us everything you'd like changed in one go (words, names, faces, colours and small details, or adding someone, up to 7 people or pets in all) and we'll make them together. If something is our mistake, we fix it free, however many times it takes. Further changes, or a different scene altogether, are new work, and we'll tell you the price before we start.

Cancelling

You can cancel any time before we send you your card's link. We'll refund you in full, to the card you paid with, within 14 days of you telling us.

When you order, you ask us to start making your card straight away, and you agree that your right to cancel ends once we send you its link. After that you can't cancel, but you keep your rights if the card is faulty (see the next section).

To cancel, email hello@tappybirthday.co.uk with your order reference. You can use this wording if you like, but you don't have to:

To Tappy Birthday (Bradley Liston-Head), 38 Crofters Lane, Sutton Coldfield B75 5UJ, hello@tappybirthday.co.uk:

I give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following digital content: a Tappy Birthday card, order reference ______.

Ordered on: ______
Name: ______
Address: ______
Date: ______

If something's wrong

Your card should work as we've described and be of satisfactory quality. If it doesn't open, play or display properly in an up-to-date browser, tell us and we'll fix it. If we can't fix it within a reasonable time, we'll refund you, in full or in part depending on the problem. None of this affects your legal rights.

How long it stays online

At least 12 months from when we send you the link. After that we may take it down, and we'll email you before we do. If you'd like it taken down sooner, ask and we will.

Your photos and permission

  • Only send photos you're allowed to send, of people who are happy to appear in the card. For children, that means the go-ahead of a parent or guardian.
  • Don't send anything offensive or unlawful, or ask for anything that is. We can turn down a brief like that, and we'll refund you if we do.
  • We use your photos only to draw your card. The privacy notice explains what we keep and for how long.

Who owns what

We own the artwork and code in your card. You're free to share it with whoever you like, for personal use. We'll only show your card on our website or social media if you say yes.

Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of that. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Our cards are for personal use, so we're not responsible for business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law says it can't be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Complaints and the law

If you're not happy, email hello@tappybirthday.co.uk and we'll try to put it right quickly.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
