Go on, tap them.
Five cards to play with. Grace's is a real one. The other four are samples we made to show the range: fireworks for Lisa's 50th, the pub for Robbo's 30th, a surprise party for Dave's 40th and a sweet one for Nan's 90th. Sound on, if you're somewhere you can get away with it.
Grace's birthday
From three of the family, set where Grace lives.
- Starring
- Three of the family, drawn from photos
- Set in
- Grace's estate: the fields, the houses and the church tower
- Front
- Her name in gold and a "Tap to open" button
- Opening
- Happy Birthday plays, everyone walks in and the banner drops
- To tap
- Each person, who jumps and says something. The banner plays the song again.
Things to spot
- A combine harvester working the field
- Birds crossing the sky
- A heart, if you tap the right person
- The signpost. In the real card it names Grace's estate. On here, it points at the cake.
Lisa's 50th
The fireworks one. Light the touch paper to open it, then tap the sky. For the finale, her name goes up in lights. Literally.
- Starring
- Lisa in a paper crown, Gary in hi-vis, Megan, Oscar and Pickle the sausage dog
- Set in
- Their back garden after dark, with fairy lights on the fence and cake on the table
- Front
- Happy 50th Birthday, with Lisa in gold and a blue touch paper to light
- Opening
- It opens with a bang. Tap the sky to launch rockets, rings, hearts and crackling willows, each with its own whistle and bang. After four, the finale writes HAPPY 50TH LISA across the sky in sparks and the song plays.
- To tap
- The sky, everyone in the garden, the cake, the dog and next door's window
Things to spot
- Gary's safety goggles, worn on his forehead, where they do nothing
- The box of rockets. It says stand well back. Gary is reading it from very close.
- Pickle, who has been under the table since the first bang
- Next door's curtain. It twitches.
Four of them and the dog, all for £7.99. Next door's free too.
Robbo's 30th
The pub one. You pour the birthday pint. Too short and the lads heckle. Too long and you flood the bar.
- Starring
- Robbo in a paper crown, plus his mates Kev and Deano
- Set in
- Their local: the dartboard, the fruit machine and Robbo's tab on the chalkboard
- Front
- Happy 30th Birthday, with Robbo in gold
- Opening
- Hold the tap to pour. Get it right and the pint slides down the bar, everyone raises a glass and the song plays.
- To tap
- All three lads, the dartboard and the fruit machine
Things to spot
- The pump clip. Past It Pilsner, brewed 1996.
- The tap for Deano's round, which is out of order
- What lives in Deano's wallet
- The darts scores. Nobody has scored.
The pour's not on the menu, but the pub is: your lot in your local, all for £7.99.
Dave's 40th
The surprise party. The room's dark when it opens. Then somebody hits the lights.
- Starring
- Three of Dave's mates, plus a cat in a party hat
- Set in
- His living room, after dark
- Front
- Happy 40th Birthday, with Dave in gold
- Opening
- Eyes in the dark. Tap the light switch and everyone jumps out: from behind the sofa, out of a giant present and from behind the curtains.
- To tap
- Everyone, the cake and the cat, who has plans for that glass
Things to spot
- The eyes peeping over the sofa before the lights go on
- The framed portrait of the cat
- The cat and the glass. You know how this ends.
Three mates and a cat, all for £7.99. The cat thinks it was worth more.
Nan's 90th
The sweet one. Tea, roses and two grandkids on their best behaviour.
- Starring
- Nan, in her cardigan and pearls, and two of the grandkids
- Set in
- Her bungalow garden: the hedge, the bird table and a lawn with stripes
- Front
- Happy 90th Birthday, with Nan in gold
- Opening
- Happy Birthday plays, the three of them walk in with the banner and it drops
- To tap
- Everyone, the birds on the bird table and the cake, which blows out its candles
Things to spot
- The 9 and 0 balloons tied to the hedge
- Nan's tea, still steaming
- The candles relight themselves. Nobody knows how.
Nan and two grandkids, all for £7.99. The hedge came free.
